Paintball marker
The paintball marker the main equipment item. Paintball markers propel the paintball by the use of compressed air or CO2. The rate at which the gases are released regulate the paintball's speed or "Feet per second". Paintball markers range in price and functionality but perform the same basic function of propelling the paintball at a regulated speed. Banshee Paintball sells excellent beginner paintball markers. Hopper
The paintball hopper is the reservoir or holder for the paintballs themselves. The bottom funnel shape design allows single paintballs to enter the marker. Basic hoppers are inexpensive, advanced hoppers can be costly. Paintball hoppers usually hold 200 paintballs but specialty hoppers can hold from 40 to 300 paintballs.

Paintballs
Paintballs are the marking devices for indicating a hit. Made of Gel and filled with colored non toxic paint, they break when they strike an object. The paintballs vary in size by very small amounts, accuracy and distance depend greatly on the paint to barrel match. Before buying paintballs by the 1000s you should try a small amount first. The differences in brands of paintballs from manufacturers is a subject that nearly warrants it's own book.
Paintballs NEVER contain red paint.
Please note...... Some fields will not allow the use of "Chain store" paintballs.

CO2 or Compressed Air
Paintball markers propel the paintballs by the use of expanding gases. The two most common propellants would be CO2 and Compressed air. CO2 or Carbon Dioxide would be the reccomended propellent for new players with entry level paintball markers. The CO2 containers or bottles as commonly called come in many sizes which are measured in ounces of fluid contained within. Common sizes are 9, 12, 16 and 20 ounce. How Many shots per tank size?

Barrel Plug The barrel plug fits snuggly in the end of the paintball markers barrel. The plug is a safety device which prevents a paintball from leaving the marker when accidentally fired. The plug is required at all fields and many stores require it be in when you bring your marker in for service. The barrel plug remains in your barrel until you enter the playing area, when you leave the field you must replace the barrel plug or chance being asked to leave.

Barrel Squeegee
The barrel squeegee is used to clean the inside of the barrel in the case of a paintball breakage.
Once in a while you will get a bad paintball or a damaged ball that will break in the barrel. The paint inside the barrel will create drag on different sides of the paintball causing it to spin and fly in an uncontrollable manner. Shots can stray far wide of intended targets when left un cleaned.

The Mask
The single most important safety item in the sport. The paintball mask protects the eyes first and foremost. Also protected is the ears, nose, lips and other soft skin areas. Players must NEVER, EVER, remove their mask in the play area. The goggle portion of paintball masks has thermal properties which reduce fogging and has been designed to withstand paintball hits. Drop into Banshee Paintball and talk to us about your mask needs or view our paintball mask line on the site.
